Wesleyan Worship Workshop Recording

Some of you may know that I recently presented my workshop on Authentic Wesleyan Worship during the Wesley Conference at Northwest Nazarene University.  -  Dr. Brent Peterson has announced, "I am pleased to share about 20 mp3 workshop recordings and 8 videos from our NNU Wesley Center Conference on Worship."  -  I am pleased to have my workshop among those recorded and available at the NNU website.  You can find all of the recordings here.

The Book of Common Prayer

I recently posted the following video on my Facebook profile page.  It comes from St. Peter's Anglican Church in Evans, Georgia.  Their descriptor reads, "The Anglican Book of Common Prayer that guides our worship and forms our belief."

This, too, is our heritage as Wesleyan Christians.  We are reminded that John Wesley gave to us a conservative version of the Book of Common Prayer to guide our worship and form our beliefs, as well.  He called it "The Sunday Service of the Methodists in North America."

For those Wesleyan/Methodist Christians who are unfamiliar with our Prayer Book heritage, I comment "The Sunday Service" to you.  -  May God truly shape our faith and life.

Authentic Christian Worship: Wesley's Criteria

Just wanted to draw attention to a new addition to my side-bar.  Just below my profile information, I have included a link to the paper I presented at the 2009 meeting of the Wesleyan Theological Society.

This paper was based on a portion of my dissertation work.  And an edited version of a portion of this paper was subsequently published in the Wesleyan Theological Journal.

I believe I may have mentioned it in a much earlier article, and I likely included a link to it, there.  -  I don't know why I never included it on my side-bar!

Worship Video at Epworth Chapel-on-the-Green

The Rev'd. Dr. Brook Thelander and the good people at Epworth Chapel-on-the-Green have posted on their website a new video introduction to their services of worship.

Epworth is a "Wesleyan-Anglican" church locate in Boise, Idaho. While it is an independent church, it has a Nazarene background (originally envisioned as a Nazarene church plant), and Dr. Thelander is a Nazarene elder.

At one time, Epworth had acquired duel "spiritual oversight" by representatives of the Anglican (The Most Rev'd. Dr. Larry Shaver, Bishop in the Anglican Province of America) and Wesleyan (The Rev'd. Dr. William Greathouse, General Superintendent Emeritus in the Church of the Nazarene) traditions. - I do not know if they have maintained such relationships, at least on the Anglican side. Dr. Greathouse retired from this position, but the local Nazarene District Superintendent has, I believe, a strong relationship with Epworth.

While, personally, I would be more open to including a blend in terms of musical style, as well as a sense of openness to Spirit led spontaneity, nevertheless, I have been quite happy with all that Epworth has accomplished and closely regard them as "kindred spirits" committed to the Wesleyan-Anglican theological and liturgical tradition. Thus, I enthusiastically point the readers of this blog to their website to view their new video. - A link to their church is located on the sidebar, or you can simply click here.

(If I figure out how, and gain permission, I will post the video on this site.)
